New keynote speaker

We are sorry to tell you that Professor Joan Martinez-Alier had to cancel his keynote lecture for our IASC2019 conference due to a health problem. For that reason, we want to introduce your our new Keynote Speaker: Wrays Pérez.

Wrays is Pamuk or President of the Autonomous Territorial Government of the Wampi Nation since November 2015. He studied at the Carlos III University of Madrid (Spain), where he was awarded the title of “University Expert in Indigenous People, Human Rights, Governance and Cooperation International”. His long history of leadership in the defense of the collective rights of indigenous peoples began at age 24 in the Amazon basin of Peru. His experience is recognized by international organizations: he has held the presidency of the Intercultural Indigenous University of Latin America and the Caribbean and has been a member of the Binational Technical Team for the Development and Cross-Border Integration between Peru and Ecuador. Under his leadership, the Wampis joined the Ticca Consortium in 2017.

Lamentamos informarle que el profesor Joan Martinez-Alier tuvo que cancelar su presentación para nuestra conferencia IASC2019 debido a un problema de salud. Por ese motivo, queremos presentarle a nuestro nuevo orador principal: Wrays Pérez.

Wrays Perez Ramirez es Pamuk o presidente del Gobierno Autónomo Territorial de la Nación Wampi desde noviembre de 2015. Estudió en la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (España), donde le fue otorgado el título de «Experto Universitario en Pueblos Indígenas, Derechos Humanos, Gobernanza y Cooperación Internacional». Su larga historia de liderazgo comenzó a la edad de 24 años en la cuenca amazónica de Perú. Su experiencia es reconocida en los escenarios internacionales: ha ocupado la presidencia de la Universidad Indígena Intercultural de Latinoamérica y el Caribe y ha sido miembro del Equipo Técnico Binacional para el Desarrollo y la Integración Transfronteriza entre Perú y Ecuador. Bajo su liderazgo, los Wampis se unieron al Consorcio Ticca en 2017.

Submission deadline closed, over 800 received

The IASC2019 Conference Organizers are happy to announce that over 800 abstracts have been received from all over the world. In the next few weeks, all proposals will be reviewed. Review results will be announced to the corresponding authors before January 31, 2019.

Professor Fiorenza Micheli confirmed as third keynote speaker IASC2019

The IASC2019 Conference organizers are happy to announce professor Fiorenza Micheli will be the third keynote lecturer at the IASC2019 next year.

Professor Micheli is a marine ecologist and conservation biologist conducting research and teaching at the Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University, where she is also the David and Lucile Packard Professor of Marine Science and the Director, with Jim Leape, of the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions (www.centerforoceansolutions.org). Her research focuses on the processes shaping marine communities and incorporating this understanding in the management and conservation of marine ecosystems.
